AI that sorts and counts instruments by image recognition will shrink staffing in sterile processing departments, but taking instruments apart, inspecting them for damage, and assembling trays are still done by hand, and rising surgical volumes prop up demand. Automation from washers and tracking equipment is separate from AI.
