AI already handles document translation and business interpreting, so entry-level roles filled on language skills alone shrink first. But federal diplomatic, defense and investigative agencies pay extra for Arabic speakers, who are hard to replace with AI. Those jobs are few, and the 2025 staff cuts were not caused by AI.
