AI can take over obituaries, paperwork and scheduling, but there is strong agreement that embalming and other body preparation, supporting grieving families and leading ceremonies should remain human work. State licenses also require an accredited degree and a national exam. Revenue pressure from rising cremation rates is separate from AI.
