AI will cut lesson prep, grading and paperwork, but because a classroom teacher cares for children all day, it can only assist. Beyond class-size caps in some states, no law sets how many teachers a district must employ, so districts can grow classes to fit budgets. Falling enrollment and expiring federal ESSER funds are separate from AI.
