Instructional Designer: what AI changes and what stays

An instructional designer's real test happens in an actual classroom: watching whether a lesson that looked good on paper survives real kids, then rewriting it with the teacher who just taught it. AI can already draft a full unit, so time is shifting from producing content to proving it works.

What part of building lessons does AI already do?

Drafting a full unit, a quiz bank, or an e-learning module from a topic and a standard is something AI can already do in minutes, close to how an experienced writer would first attempt it. That has already pulled a lot of the first-draft writing away from a person starting from a blank page.

What still has to happen with real teachers and kids?

Sitting in on a lesson to see where students actually get stuck, then sitting with the teacher afterward to work out what to change, and negotiating with a school about what it's actually paying for all depend on relationships built over repeated visits, not a single review.
