AI takes over entry-level design work such as process simulation, mass balance calculations, and operating data analysis first, but handling abnormal conditions on plant shifts, plus process safety management (PSM) rules and mandatory safety manager appointments, props up hiring. The cutback in petrochemical recruitment reflects industry conditions, not AI.
