For site engineers, the main path, AI takes over contract administration, quantity takeoffs, and scheduling paperwork, so each site needs fewer new hires. But leading work crews and solving on-site problems stay with people, and legal site-staffing rules and labor shortages prop up hiring. Cuts caused by the construction slump are separate from AI.
